SVSU History: Tyner Prize

Quick Reference

"Raymond Tyner joined the SVSU English Department in 1968.  He founded The Green River Press, and his work and initiative sustained the journal The Green River Review for many years.  After Tyner's death in 1988, friends and family created a fund for the Tyner Prize, which recognizes writers in the Humanities.  The award is intended as a symbol of Dr. Tyner's faith in the potential achievement of student writers at SVSU and a reminder of his lifetime commitment to the written word."  -- Publication of Winning Entries, 2006
