Create an account using your SVSU email (you must use that email). There are directions and a video you can watch for more specific instruction. See here and here.
Note the password you create. You might want to save it to your browser on your own device.
The next time you wish to use The New York Times, access it through the library's website -- that link helps to authenticate you.
