Fairy Tales with a Twist
Many authors have adapted fairy tales to be placed in different cultures. Examples of this is include The three little tamales by Kevin Kimmel, Alice in a winter wonderland by Jan Brett, and Cendrillon: a Caribbean Cinderella by Robert D. San Souci.
Youth Media Awards Winners
The Youth Media Awards are handed out every January and include awards given by various Round Tables within the American Library Association that honor depictions of various cultures. These include the following: Pura Belpre Awards (Latinx), Coretta Scott King Awards (African American), Schneider Family Book Awards (Disabilities), Stonewall Book Awards (LGBTQ), American Indian Youth Literature Awards, Asian Pacific American Awards, and the Sydney Taylor Awards (Jewish).
