The Zahnow Library is your library while you are a SVSU student. It also contains many service points all in one area. To the left is a breakdown for the service points in the library. Here are a few general pointers to keep in mind about the library.
- Librarians can help you use library databases, assist with some online tools, and help you with searching and investigating resources. Librarians though do not write papers or give copies of articles. We can help you find them. Librarians can reached online or in the early afternoon at the desk on the 2nd floor. Librarians are also "on call" if need assistance at other times as well.
- The Zahnow Library does not usually collect textbooks. If you are looking to get your textbook(s) for a class, you would want to reach out to the University Bookstore or see about purchasing it online. The library does sometimes get extra copies of textbooks if the professor provides one to put on reserve. Reserves are a collection in the library that faculty add material to for student use.
- If you are looking for technology assistance such as printing help, or wifi questions, or help setting up a laptop you would want to talk to the IT department on the 1st floor of the Library.
- Food and drinks are allowed in the Library. All that is asked is that everyone try to pick up after themselves to help keep the library clean.
- We also do allow talking on most of the floors in the library, but it is asked to keep voices at a respectable level. The 4th floor of the library is considered a quiet floor for any student who would like a quiet space.
- Zahnow Library during fall and winter semester are open over 80 hours a week for student and faculty use. When the building is closed no one is allowed to stay in the building, although there are additional study spaces on campus including the Cardinal Commons located outside the Library's 1st Floor doors and in several other spots on campus including in CCB and Brown Hall.
- If you would like to use a study room you need to book it online here. Reservations can only be made up to a week in advance.
- There are several other units in the library including: IT on the First Floor, Tutoring and Writing Center on the Second Floor and the Testing Center on the Third Floor.
- If you want to check out materials (such as books) you will need your SVSU card and go to either the first or second floor desk.
