What can librarians do for students?
Librarians can help you navigate library databases, brainstorm keywords, assist with some online tools (including some AI resources) and help you with searching and finding resources and other types of informational assistance for projects and assignments in your courses. |
Librarians generally do not give copies of articles. We can help you search for and find items including videos, books and articles. For help writing papers you would want to visit the Writing Center, which is also located in the library on the 2nd floor. |
Do you have copies of textbooks?
Sometimes professors will put a copy of their textbook and similar materials on reserve or e-reserve. A reserve is a collection in the library that faculty add material to which has specific restrictions. The library also has over 100,000 items in our print collection and around 500,000 ebooks. However, we do not actively collect textbooks for many reasons. |

We do not get copies of most textbooks. You will want to contact the University Bookstore or see about buying it online. |
What are your food and noise policies?
You are welcome to bring food in and eat anywhere in the library. We only ask that you please clean up when you are finished eating. We do have vending machines on the third floor of the library along with a microwave. In terms of noise you can talk at a respectable level on all floors of the library except the fourth floor. |

The 4th floor of the library is a quiet study floor and we encourage people to keep the noise down. |
Do you offer laptop checkouts?
Yes. The Zahnow Library currently offers a short term (six hour checkout) and a longer month long checkout. These laptops are on a first come first serve basis. To learn more about the checkout and laptop policies, please see here. |

What are the Library hours and where can I go on campus to study if the Library is closed?
The library hours can vary by semester but normally during Fall and Winter the library is open over 80 hours a week. To see precise hours, visit the library's hours page. |

When the library closes all visitors and staff must leave. There a few spots on campus including the Cardinal Commons in front the library that are available as a study space when the library is closed. |
