MARC Bibliographic Format
Coding standard provided by the Library of Congress. This standard must be used in every bibliographic and authority record.
MARC Geographic Names
Codes to be used when coding geographic information of resources. It is maintained by the Library of Congress.
MARC Language Names
Codes to be used when coding information on the language of the resource. It is maintained by the Library of Congress.
The official search engine provided by the Library of Congress for determining subject access terms, proper names of companies and individuals, and call numbers for resources. NOTE: Subscription database; You will need the login information.
MARC Relator Codes
Codes used to describe how person(s) are associated with a given resource. It is maintained by the Library of Congress. This is a new element added to resource records with the adoption of the RDA Cataloging Standard in 2013.
The RDA Tookit is the official rule book containing all instructions for cataloging records according to the RDA standards. It is continually updated by the Joint Steering Committee for the Development of RDA. NOTE: Subscription based. You will need login information.
Catalog of the Library of Congress
Contains the records of the holdings of the complete collections of the Library of Congress, the entity charged with maintaining standards used by catalogers. Each resource must be coded to show if the resource is included in any of the Library of Congress collections.
These Listservs are great sources of information for resources that are difficult to catalog.

The following collections have custom call numbers: Children's literature, ELP, and DVDs. Please see Heather Fisher, Metadata and Catalog Librarian, should you have any questions.
Element 245 (Title and statement of responsibility) - |h will remain in e-book, sound recording, and video recording records. All others will be deleted per RDA standards.
