Online and Hybrid Support Assessment Comparison of AY 2012 & 2015: Conclusion and Recommendations

This guide contains a comparison of a survey sent out to students taking online and hybrid classes that utilized an embedded librarian for the Academic Years 2011-2012 and 2014-2015.

Conclusion

Students found the service to be helpful and remained consistent in their responses in the 2011-2012 and 2014-2015 Academic Years. A higher percentage of students responded that they used the service in the 2014-2015 Academic Year, which shows that the program is growing. However, this data may be skewed because the 2014-2015 year had fewer responses than the 2011-2012 Academic Year. Since most students strongly agreed or agreed that working with the Online Course Librarian improved their research skills, librarians should continue to offer the same level of knowledgeable help to students enrolled in these courses. Several students commented that while they did not contact the Librarian directly, they still felt they benefitted from the librarian emails and tutorials.
