Did your professor tell you that they put a book on reserve in the library for student use?
- Yes, where do I find it?
- Go to circulation desk
- You will need to know your professor's last name and name of the book
- Books are typically on reserve for two hour in-library use only.
Books in general?
- New books: 1st floor
- Popular reading: 1st floor
- General collections: 3rd and 4th floor
- A-K call number: 4th floor
- L-Z call number: 3rd floor
- Children's books: 3rd floor
- English Language Program books: 3rd floor
A specific book or subject?
When looking for books about a specific topic, it is best to contact Research Services.
- Located on 1st floor of library
- Check hours in upper right hand corner here
- Online chat/text/email
If you know the title of the book:
- Ask for assistance at circulation desk (blue lights)
- If we do not have the book:
- You can check MeLCat to see if any libraries in Michigan have it available
Laptops to check out?
- Campus 6-hour use:
- Located at main desk on 1st floor
- Must have own SVSU ID
- No ID, no laptop, no exceptions!
- You will fill out a form with your name, ID number, email, and sign the form
- Laptops have a six hour check out
- Laptops can be used anywhere on campus
- Semester long checkout:
- Fill out a request for a laptop here.
- After your request is reviewed by a staff person, you will receive an email with our decision on checking out a laptop. If you are able to check one out a link to schedule an appointment will be included..
- Copy and paste link to book an appointment to pick up the laptop.
- Bring your student ID!
- There will be a 7-day waiting period after returning the laptop before being able to check out another.
Whiteboard markers?
You can check out whiteboard markers at the main desk.
- Provide your SVSU ID
- Markers will be due 15 minutes before we close
DVDs/CDs?
Our DVDs and CDs are located on the third floor.
- Go to the left when getting off the elevator/stairs
- DVDs are around the corner across from periodicals
