How to Perform an Inhouse

Walk around each floor of the library and up and down each aisle.  Pick up unattended books on carts, tables, carrels and ones lying at the ends of bookshelves.  Bring them down to the Circulation desk to be inhoused in Sierra.  While you are in the stacks pick up garbage and push in chairs, turn off unused lamps.  If you notice patrons who look like they could use some assistance offer to help them.  While in the Cafe Area check for any Cafe Collection donations and bring them to your supervisor.  On the first floor check printers and copy machines for paper and toner refills.

Things to Note About Inhouse

  • Always watch the Status column on Sierra while inhousing items.  If you notice that an item has a status of checked out, check it back in.  If you notice an item has a status of missing, lost, etc. give it to a supervisor.
