If Sierra Goes Down

If the system goes down get the manual check out binders from the cupboard closest to the left-most workstation.  There is one blue binder for reserves only and two red binders for all other check outs.  To check items out fill the required information in each column of the form, let the patron know what the due date will be and desensitize the item(s) as usual.  The forms are for check out only, leave all returned items in the bookdrop until the system is restored.  When available a supervisor will record the transactions in Sierra.

If An Item Does Not Have a Record in Sierra

If you get the following message when attempting to check out an item in Sierra "Authorization required to perform the following functions:  view Bibliographic records create Item records" cancel out of the pop up screen and check out the item manually.  Manual check out forms are located in the cupboard closest to the left-most workstation.  Fill out the form completely listing as much identifying information as possible (Title, Call #, Barcode, Reserve Instructor, etc.) and assign an appropriate due date.  Give the yellow copy of the form to the patron and file the white copy in the black holder where the unused forms are located.
